Camper does not sell your personal data or build advertising profiles. Your collection is for listening. Here is what the app stores and what leaves your device.

On your device

Camper stores generated Bandcamp player credentials in encrypted storage: Android Keystore-backed storage on Android, and the Keychain on iPhone and iPad. It also stores preferences, cached collection information, artwork, and music you download so the app can work between visits and play downloaded tracks offline.

Your Saved for later list and your listening history (the plays behind your listening stats) are kept on your device and are never sent to Camper. They are included in your phone’s own backup, iCloud on iPhone and iPad or Android backup, if you use it, so they can come back on a new phone. That backup is stored in your Apple or Google account, not with Camper. Other app data, including credentials, settings, caches, and downloads, is left out of Android backup.

Your Bandcamp connection

Camper connects directly to Bandcamp and its content services to retrieve your collection, artwork, and audio. Collection requests use token authentication derived from your generated player credentials. Camper does not read or store your Bandcamp account login password. When you sign in on Bandcamp’s page, Bandcamp handles that sign-in.

Discover and Radio can be used without connecting a collection. Anonymous access does not make network requests invisible: Bandcamp and its content providers receive connection information, such as your IP address, needed to serve a request. Their handling of that information is covered by Bandcamp’s Privacy Policy.

Last.fm scrobbling

Connecting Last.fm is optional. When you sign in, Camper sends your Last.fm username and password to Last.fm once and keeps only the sign-in Last.fm gives back, in the Keychain on iPhone and iPad or in Android Keystore-backed storage. Camper never stores your Last.fm password.

While scrobbling is on, Camper sends what you play straight from your device to Last.fm: the artist, song, album, length, and when you played it. Plays that can’t be sent yet wait on your device and are left out of backups. Signing out of Last.fm in Camper removes the sign-in and any plays still waiting. Nothing is sent to Camper. Last.fm’s handling of your scrobbles is covered by Last.fm’s Privacy Policy.

Crash and performance diagnostics

Current release builds on Android and iOS use Sentry to report errors, app hangs, and performance traces so problems can be investigated. Diagnostic reports can include technical information about the app, device, operating system, errors, and requests. Default personally identifiable information collection is disabled, session replay is off, and Camper scrubs credentials, Bandcamp cookies, and private signed URLs from diagnostic events before they leave your device.

These protections do not mean that no data is transmitted. Camper’s current release is not a zero-data-collection app. Sentry processes diagnostic information on the developer’s behalf. You can read about the service at Sentry’s privacy page.

Sharing is your choice

When you use Camper’s share action, the artwork and music information you choose are passed to the app you select. That destination’s privacy policy applies to the information you share. Share cards are designed to exclude credentials and private stream URLs.

Managing your local data

You can remove downloaded music in Camper, and Disconnect removes your player credentials from the device. On Android, the app-storage settings let you clear Camper’s local data; on iPhone and iPad, deleting the app removes its downloads, preferences, and caches. Either way you will need to reconnect afterwards. Neither deletes your Bandcamp account, your purchases, or diagnostics already sent.

This website

This marketing site adds no advertising trackers, analytics scripts, signup forms, or mailing lists. Its hosting provider may process network and access information to deliver and secure the site.

Policy updates

If Camper’s data practices change, this page will be updated with a revised date. This policy describes the current Android and iOS apps, including Wear OS, Android Auto, and CarPlay; it does not make claims about other Bandcamp clients or third-party services.
